Health Related Experience

Sustainability

  • CO AIDS Project Sustainability Initiative: Addressing sustainability of five community agencies given decreased federal funds (to be completed Nov 08).
  • Steps for Healthier Community: Completed sustainability analyses and plans for four communities at the end of a five-year grant period. Achieved identification of critical services and integration through health department for sustainability. Identified criteria of success for program sustainability.

Integrated Strategy

  • CO Chautauqua Association: Created strategic focus, marketing analysis and plan, and organizational development plan to position for success as a National Historic Landmark, and to create and achieve a 21st-century vision.
  • CO Department of Public Health and Environment: Creating the strategic outcomes and organizational design to achieve integration of healthy living and chronic disease prevention; one of four CDC Integration Demonstration Projects (to be completed Fall 08).
  • Human Services Inc. (Family Pathways): Reinvented and repositioned the organization to achieve focused outcomes in family self-sufficiency. The project has become a model for taking an organization to its next level of success and sustainability.
  • Mohonk Preserve: Created a strategic plan, marketing plan, and organizational development plan to leverage distinct assets and to integrate the organization for greater impact. Implementation exceeded fundraising and marketing goals and has made significant improvements in operations for a more seamless, constituent-centered organization.

Organizational Design and Development

  • Alliance for Rio Grande Heritage: Completed an organizational analysis for this unique alliance of 12 organizations and six foundations.
  • City of Boulder - Mountain Parks and Open Space: Completed an extensive management audit and organizational design to evaluate the merger of two separate city divisions.
  • City of Ft Collins - Natural Areas Program: Completed an organizational development plan to position the program for efficiencies and sustainability.
  • Pueblo City and County Public Health Department: Redefined management positions and health promotion roles for effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Scenic Hudson: Created an organization re-design to leverage organizational assets, achieve program integration, and to achieve more aggressive results.

Marketing and Communications

  • The Brainerd Foundation: Completed a market analysis and plan for engaging new constituencies. The report serves as a template for conservation organizations to reach and engage new markets.
  • Deschutes Basin Land Trust: Completed market plan to guide communication, outreach, development, and program positioning for enhanced support and prominent community positioning.
  • Ducks Unlimited: Completed a market analysis and implementation plan to leverage nationwide resources to increase market share and create a more constituent-centered organization.
  • General Services Foundation: Completed a market analysis and report on emerging leadership in progressive cause organizations.
  • Village for Family and Children: Completed a branding and positioning analysis to direct fundraising and organizational development.

Strategic Planning and Positioning

  • CO Youth Corps Association: Completed a positioning analysis to move the organization from a statewide organization to filling regional gaps.
  • LiveWell CO (15 communities): Worked with multi-agency coalitions to create data-based, comprehensive, multi-sector community-wide plans resulting in millions of dollars of implementation funding.
  • Morris Land Trust: Created a strategic positioning plan to leverage distinct assets and prepare for next level of success.

Organizational Analysis and Program Analysis

  • Argosy Foundation: Completed a grantee analysis to define future investment potential.
  • C.S Mott Foundation: Completed several region-wide program analyses to define grant priorities and impact.
  • Ducks Unlimited: Completed a market analysis and implementation plan to leverage nationwide resources to increase market share and to create a more constituent-centered organization.
  • Great Lakes Protection Fund: Completed project analysis and evaluation to define grant impact and measurable outcomes.
  • Metro Denver Homeless Initiative: Completed organizational analysis for this seven county continuum of care agency.

Health Related Experience

  • CO AIDS Organizations: Working with five organizations to assess sustainability and create a statewide business plan to ensure continuation of quality services (to be completed Nov 08).
  • CO Department of Public Health and Environment: Completed extensive research and final report on the statewide issues and gaps in obesity prevention.
  • Jefferson County Department of Health and Environment: Created a strategic plan for this 150+ staff organization to assist in integration and position.
  • LiveWell: Worked with eight LiveWell communities to create coalitions and create comprehensive community plans for physical activity and nutrition.
  • Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention – Chronic Disease Division: Completed a one-day strategic planning process to create a division-wide integrated strategic focus framework.
  • North Carolina Public Health: Work with Healthy Carolinians program to increase sustainability and capacity throughout the state.
  • National Association of Chronic Disease Directors: Created and presented skills building training sessions on strategic planning and on organizational development. Training was required to meet chronic disease professional’s competencies and was approved for CEU credits.
  • Pueblo City and County Public Health Department: Created strategic plan, organizational redevelopment, and sustainability of prevention programs for the department and pioneered an integrated design for chronic disease programs.
  • Rocky Mountain Center for Health Promotions: Created and provided leadership training and materials on the Integrated Strategy for Sustainability. Material published in national newsletter.
  • Steps to a Healthier Colorado: Worked with four Steps communities to create sustainability plans to continue services upon completion of the five-year CDPHE grant.
  • Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment: Created department strategic plan with management team resulting in a community assessment to determine priority needs and appropriate roles of WCDPHE and its partners to provide responsive services.
