Karen has 12 years of experience in nonprofit management and fundraising. She brings particular expertise in donor relations and stewardship, project management, development, special events, fundraising systems, and volunteer and board development to the organization. With a strong background in resource development, Karen is passionate about motivating voluntary leadership to get the job done.
Prior to joining Nonprofit Impact, Karen worked with a variety of local and national nonprofit organizations. Most recently she was responsible for donor communications and stewardship, annual campaigns, grant making and program management for an institutionally related foundation. Karen has held key fundraising and nonprofit management positions with cancer services, homelessness, and civic engagement organizations. In addition, Karen has served with a number of local nonprofits focused on women's issues, political campaigns, and international education.
Karen has a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Colorado at
Boulder and a master's in nonprofit management with honors from Regis University.
